Biochar in clay soil
WebAug 1, 2024 · Here, we quantified the effects of biochar particle size on plant-available water in sand, silt loam, and clay soils. We amended these soils with a hydrophilic biochar, and packed soil-biochar mixtures into columns of 5.35-cm diameter and 3.0-cm height. Biochar was produced by gasification of woody forest residues. WebMay 1, 2014 · The potential of biochar to reduce the loss of P from agricultural soils was studied. Sorption of dissolved P was not increased after biochar addition. Aggregate stability was better in biochar amended clay soils. Biochar could be beneficial for erosion control and in reducing particulate P losses.
